The Gun

Posted on by M.

In 1996 my friends and I were taking the ferry home from Seattle to Bremerton, WA. It was late, maybe 2:00am. We had been drinking all night long and our conversation on the near empty ferry allowed everyone to hear us. We were underage, about to turn 21. We were talking among our group of how we wanted to find someone to buy us more beer once we arrived in Bremerton. Then out of the blue an older man walked up to us and started asking us questions. Asked if he could help us in any way. We told him, “yeah, could you buy us beer?”. He said, “of course!”. As we got off the ferry and walked towards a place to buy beer, he told us to give him some money for the beer...then as we pulled out some cash, he noticed our cash in our wallets and quickly asked us to go around the corner. It was dark and quiet. He looked around and pulled out a gun, pointed it at my friend and said “everyone empty your pockets or I will shoot this motherfucker!” - naturally we each handed over all of our money wallets and anything else valuable. The man didn't shoot, but left with our belongings. No beer + no death. True story.
